Pastor Demetrius A. Greer

Demetrius A. Greer

M.Div. (Duke University)

Pastor Greer is a Spirit-led and ordained preacher with more than 20 years of practical, ecumenical ministry experience. Since 1995, he has been active in youth ministry leadership, serving through Sunday School, Bible studies, Single-N-Saved Ministry, music ministry, summer camps, tutoring, and mentoring.

As a minister-practitioner, Elder Greer seeks to use his education and ministry experience to impact both the Church and the world the Church is called to serve. He feels especially called to walk alongside college students, families, and fathers. Since 2006, he has served as a spiritual mentor to numerous undergraduate and graduate students, shepherding them through the challenges and crises that can arise during the college years.

Pastor Greer’s heart is to nurture and empower all people to live into the reality of their true identity in Christ (Colossians 3:1–3). One way he fulfills this calling is as a faithful caregiver of the Kerygma—the proclamation of the Gospel, the good news of Christ crucified, risen, and coming again to transform human affairs. As Elder Greer often affirms, “Preaching Christ extends the Christ-event into the lives of both the faithful and the unsaved. Indeed, Jesus is THE answer for the world today!”

In addition to his ordained ministry, Rev. Greer serves as an academic advisor in the Reed School of Media and Communications at West Virginia University. Since joining WVU in August 2013, he has worked primarily with first-time freshmen and first-generation students and created the MOVE (Motivating Others Via Engagement) Peer Mentoring Program for the college.

Before his work at WVU, Rev. Greer served as a Behavioral Health Technician and Music Counselor at a youth residential treatment facility in Rockford, Illinois. He has also worked as an academic counselor and instructor at Northern Illinois University, a case manager for specialized foster care youth, and a drug addiction counselor.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Pastor Greer holds an Associate’s degree in Psychology from Kishwaukee College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. In 2012, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University. Rev. Greer is also the proud girl-dad of Gabriella Grace Greer
